“This Christmas romance from [Debbie] Macomber is both sweet and sincere.”—Library Journal

“Quirky heroine Ashley brings the laughs and is the driving force behind this hilarious read, while Dash brings a sense of groundedness with his stable military persona. There’s just the right amount of holiday cheer to remind you it’s Christmas. Ashley and Dash are a realistic example of how opposites attract. This road-trip romance is full of high jinks and the kooky characters Macomber does so well.”—RT Book Reviews

Synopsis: NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

Savor the magic of the season with Debbie Macomber’s newest Christmas novel, filled with warmth, humor, the promise of love, and a dash of unexpected adventure.

Ashley Davison, a graduate student in California, desperately wants to spend the holidays with her family in Seattle. Dashiell Sutherland, a former army intelligence officer, has a job interview in Seattle and must arrive by December 23. Though frantic to book a last-minute flight out of San Francisco, both are out of luck: Every flight is full, and there’s only one rental car available. Ashley and Dash reluctantly decide to share the car, but neither anticipates the wild ride ahead.

At first they drive in silence, but forced into close quarters Ashley and Dash can’t help but open up. Not only do they find they have a lot in common, but there’s even a spark of romance in the air. Their feelings catch them off guard—never before has either been so excited about a first meeting. But the two are in for more twists and turns along the way as they rescue a lost puppy, run into petty thieves, and even get caught up in a case of mistaken identity. Though Ashley and Dash may never reach Seattle in time for Christmas, the season is still full of surprises—and their greatest wishes may yet come true.
REVIEW: While I was reading Dashing Through the Snow by Debbie Macomber... I kept thinking about how this book should become a Hallmark movie, and it turns out it is! Of course with changes, but I'm sure it's charm wasn't lost in the film.

I enjoyed pretty much everything about it's novel. It felt like a movie, and was really simple to read... It's the kind of book you could sit and read till you finish it. The storyline was very fun, the main character was really quirky, plus with her love interest was seemed to compliment her greatly. Yeah, the book isn't the best, but it got the job done, for what it is, and if you're like me, and enjoy reading a good cheesy romance... this is a good one.

One, thing... It was advertised as a Christmas novel, and yeah it took place during Christmas time, and it was snowing... but at times I would forget this book is even a "Christmas" novel, but maybe that was just me. I just felt like the only time I remembered it was a almost Christmas, was when someone said "Merry Christmas" or something... but for sure it was a winter novel.

Overall: Entertaining read, and am looking forward to re-experience this story, by watching the film... Wonder how I'll like the changes. I recommend it to anyone who loves a good cheesy romance, with fun quirky, but real characters.

A grifter with nothing to lose . . . Descended from a long line of con artists, twenty-four-year-old Victoria, a.k.a. Vice, needs the score of a lifetime to keep her loved ones safe. As secrets unfold, the newlyweds share days of doubts and nights of the wickedest pleasures. Yet once Vice discovers her husband's past, will she stay to fight for her marriage or cut her losses and run?

Quick Thoughts: The first book of The Game Maker Series is still my favorite, but even so I still enjoyed this novel. I feel like I expected a bit more from this novel since the third brother was mentioned, and described in all three novels, and I guess that raised my expectations, a bit, but in the end this novel was enjoyable, and I would re-read the novel, and series.

Review: The Player by Kresley Cole was an anticipated novel for me, and unlike the first two I did put it down a few times, not because the novel was dull, but because my lack of reading time, and reading slump, but when I did read I read this novel in chunks.

The storyline captured my attention almost immediately, and I loved reading about the third Sevastyan brother since, he was described, and mention in the first two books, and since then… I wanted to meet Dmitri. And I did indeed meet Dmitri.

I actually expected Dmitri’s character to be a bit more, then what he was. I just felt like his character would have been a bit more distant, and mysterious, then he was… I suppose, but despite what I “expected” because in all honesty… I have no real idea of what I expected. But in the end I enjoyed this novel for what it was.

It was fun to revisit old characters, and see how these two new characters worked their problems with and without each other. The romance did seem to be a little quick, but my gosh the ending ties everything together. I’m still unsure whether the ending is “okay” with me or not, but it did surprise me, and I was not expecting such an ending.

I did felt like the novel could have been a bit longer, but maybe that's because I would have enjoyed to read more... I really enjoy Kresley Cole's Game Maker Series, and am going miss reading about all the characters.

Overall, I say give it a read if you enjoy romantic erotic novels. It’s actually less “erotic” then the first two in my opinion.
Both human and animal, Lucas Hunter is a changeling hungry for the very sensations the Psy disdain. After centuries of uneasy coexistence, these two races are now on the verge of war over the brutal murders of several changeling women. REVIEW

It took me a while to read this book due to a reading slump I have been in, but whenever I would pick this book up to read I just couldn't get enough of it at times it was a bit hard to be able to imagine something, but I think that's just me, but the world and the creatures where extremely interesting. I would like to read more, and I want to see these characters grow. I wonder if the next book in the series will continue through the same perspective or will it go to other characters either way I can't wait to pick it up.

NEGATIVES:
• This book is better if you read it in one sitting (negative, because i kept reading snippets of it.)

POSITIVES:
• Interesting characters
• Interesting world
• Great paranormal creatures.
⠀⠀➺ Jake Undone by Penelope Ward — THIS BOOK. THIS BOOK. I loved this book. It has alternative perspectives, but not back to back. It's like part of the book is one perspective, and then the second part is the other perceptive and, because of that I felt like the first part was for the most part light and cute, the second part of the book was darker and intense. AND I LOVED IT. It has the whole nice girl meets bad boy feel.... BUT THIS BOOK . JUST READ IT. SO GOOD. And there is a companion book so I can't wait pick up Jake Understood by Penelope Ward💕 (I believe that in that book you get to see scenes that were normally in Nina's perceptive, but now they are in Jakes...I can be wrong. Either way I'm excited!😆) ⠀⠀

THOUGHTS: This book is a fantasy book loosely based on Beauty and the Beast, and it's so good. People have mentioned that the writing is not as good as her other popular series: Throne of Glass... But since I have never read that series (yet) I don't know. All I know is that I enjoyed this book. What I really liked about the book is: the world, it's very mystical (in my head). The setting kind of reminds me of Disney's Maleficent with the whole human side/ the non-human side and with the BEAUTIFUL DARK & LIGHT SCENERIES😍 And it also reminded me a bit of Phantom of the Oprah with the mask curse (almost everyone is wearing a mask) ... The main character would frustrate me at times, and I could understand why some people did not seem to like the book, but I enjoyed this book, and can't wait to check out the next in the series. Meanwhile, I may check out more of Sarah J. Maas books. 😘 ⠀

THOUGHTS: This book was one of the saddest books I've ever read. It made me both physically and emotionally sad. This book deals with loss, and the many events and situations that surround the loss of a loved one. I have never experienced such a loss, but this book made me feel like I can understand the grieving process even if it's just a tiny bit, and I know everyone grieves differently —but I feel like the way the protagonist thought and reacted would probably me if I were in her shoes. Just read it, I have read reviews that say this book had no effect on them. So, maybe it was just me, and yeah, there were some scenes I would have cut out, and perhaps added in, but to be honest I feel like the book is good the way it is. It just makes me sad, even just thinking about it. That ending though.😭🏈 ⠀

⠀⠀➺ A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas — This book is a fantasy book loosely based on Beauty and the Beast, and it's so good. It was said that the writing wasn't as good as her other popular series: Throne of Glass... But since I have never read that series (yet) I don't know. All I know is that I enjoyed this book. ⠀⠀

Some reviews noted that they did not find the book sad at all, but I did. I felt physically and emotionally sad. There were parts that probably could have been cut off and parts that should have been added in, but overall this book was great. THAT ENDING THO.😭

⠀⠀➺ Hot White Kiss (The Dark Elements, Book 1) & Stone Cold Touch (The Dark Elements, Book 2) by Jennifer L. Armentrout.... SOOO GOOD. I LOVE THIS SERIES. Probably not as much as I love "The Lux Series" by her, but it's close. Check either one of those series by her especially if you love paranormal romance reads. They are just so good. It's like watching a movie BUT BETTER. The Dark Elements has to do with Demons, and Gargoyles while The Lux Series has to do with Aliens. And both have some pretty sexy characters.😉

THOUGHTS: This book took me way too long, because I would only pick it up every once and a while, but whenever I would pick it up I would read a good chuck of it. This book answered a few questions you probably head built up by reading the pervious books, and just so good. It's probably my least favorite so far, but I really liked it. 😂 Maybe it was because of Dolores Umbridge👿 ONE THINGS FOR SURE the book was wayyy better then the movie. This is one massive read for the film to cover everything. ⠀Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8642496764599948035.post-31759601752728678472015-10-26T23:06:00.000-07:002017-01-01T23:06:59.335-08:00BOOKISH THOUGHT: No Strings Attached by Millie Criswell.

SYNOPSIS: Samantha and Jack have the perfect relationship as platonic best friends, but Sam can't help but wonder when her Prince Charming will appear--or is he right under her nose? As Jack and Sam's relationship develops with no strings attached, things are likely to become a little tangled. Original.

THOUGHTS: In the beginning I was very excited of this book thinking it was a fluffy read about best friends who start having a sexual relationship or perhaps try to keep being friends (as this book sort of tried to do), but it on a semi-different direction, and I kept wanting to yell at the characters, and tell them what to do, and what not to do... but in the end this book kept me invested, and in a way I did enjoy the story, and because it kept me reading: I give "No Strings Attached" three starts. [ Note: I picked up the book because of the title, and did not read the synopsis.]
My better-late-then-never August Wrap Up.

I finally finished reading Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by JK Rowling. It's been an embarrassing couple of years of me "reading" this book. I don't know why since whenever I pick up a Harry Potter book I tend to get through the chapters faster then then other books, but it's probably the fact that I kept pushing the series back, but now I have the last two books in the series to finish, and hopefully I get them done this year, 2015.

The next book I finished was Down the Rabbit Hole by Holly Madison. It's an autobiographical memoir of her life, and how she got in, and out of the "bunny" life, and in my opinion it was a great read.

No Strings Attached by Milie Criswell was not what I was expecting, but overall it was a good read. The couple infuriated me at times, but in the end I gave the book three stars out of five.

Till next time.
BOOKISH SYNOPSIS: A former girlfriend of Hugh Hefner describes how her years inside the Playboy Mansion went from a fairytale of A-list celebrity parties to an oppressive regime of strict rules, scheduled sex, and a total loss of identity, so much so that she even contemplated suicide. ⠀

THOUGHTS: I enjoyed this book a lot more then I thought I would. (I didn't think much about this book aside from my cousin wanting to read it.) I feel like Madison's book can really make girls think twice about their choices. Even though she attempted to do right by her, she ended up going down a few roads that may not have been the best choices, and I love how throughout her book Holly tends to point out her errors. I went into this book without any high expectations so, maybe one should go into this book with low expeditions? (Since some people did not seem to like it.) I don't know. I also, did not know anything about Holly Madison, so just getting to know her through her book was great. Just give it a read, and I hope you enjoy it. I gave the book four stars because some parts of the book were, "meh" to me.
Books that I have read that have #LGBTQIA+ characters.*

❥ Everyday by David Levithan— Main character "A" has no gender.

❥ Empress of the World by Sara Ryan; about a girl named Nicola who ends up questioning her sexuality. ⠀

❥ Hard Love by Ellen Wittlinger; about a guy named John who falls for a girl through her poetry, and she happens to be a lesbian.

❥ Ask the Passengers by A.S King - Main character, Astrid Jones questions her sexuality

❥ The Vast Fields of Ordinary by Nick Burd - Main character, Dade deals with his sexuality, and questions his boyfriend's sexuality.

❥ Harry Potter Series — It's not mentioned but JK Rowling has confirmed that Dumbledore is a gay character

❥ Bare to You by Silvia Day [sexually explicit series] has two gay background characters; Mark and Steven who in my opinion are such a cute couple.

❥ I want it that Way' by Ann Aguirre - the main character's male roommate, Angus is gay, and her new female roommate, Courtney is Bi-sexual ... If I remember correctly, but Angus is a gay character, for sure.

❥ The Mortal Instruments Series — It may be a spoiler so I won't say who, but City of Bones has two male characters; one is gay one is possibly bi or pansexual. One is dealing with it, and the other seems to have accepted his sexuality. I have only read the first two books in the series, and both characters are in both books.

❥ The Percy Jackson Series — It slipped my mind, but this middle grade series has a male gay character. First appearance in The Titan's Curse.
SYNOPSIS: See the world of Fifty Shades of Grey anew through the eyes of Christian Grey.

In Christian's own words, and through his thoughts, reflections, and dreams, E L James offers a fresh perspective on the love story that has enthralled millions of readers around the world.

Christian Grey exercises control in all things; his world is neat, disciplined, and utterly empty—until the day that Anastasia Steele falls into his office, in a tangle of shapely limbs and tumbling brown hair. He tries to forget her, but instead is swept up in a storm of emotion he cannot comprehend and cannot resist. Unlike any woman he has known before, shy, unworldly Ana seems to see right through him—past the business prodigy and the penthouse lifestyle to Christian’s cold, wounded heart.

Will being with Ana dispel the horrors of his childhood that haunt Christian every night? Or will his dark sexual desires, his compulsion to control, and the self-loathing that fills his soul drive this girl away and destroy the fragile hope she offers him?

This book is intended for mature audiences.

THOUGHTS: I enjoyed being in Mr. Grey's head hope this is not the last we hear from him. I'm hoping fifty shades darker, and fifty shades freed get a Grey perspective as well. (:
BOOKISH UPDATE: I have not been reading like at all since June. I was reading, "Beautiful Bastard" but I think that book put me in a reading slump. I re-picked up Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Book 5. Hopefully that gets me back into reading.😘 ⠀Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8642496764599948035.post-42214154841376065072015-06-25T22:50:00.000-07:002017-01-01T22:51:32.524-08:00Bookish Thoughts: Lailah by Nikki Kelly.

BOOK SYNOPSIS: The girl knows she’s different. She doesn’t age. She has no family. She has visions of a past life, but no clear clues as to what she is, or where she comes from. But there is a face in her dreams – a light that breaks through the darkness. She knows his name is Gabriel.
⠀
On her way home from work, the girl encounters an injured stranger whose name is Jonah. Soon, she will understand that Jonah belongs to a generation of Vampires that serve even darker forces. Jonah and the few like him, are fighting with help from an unlikely ally – a rogue Angel, named Gabriel.
⠀
In the crossfire between good and evil, love and hate, and life and death, the girl learns her name: Lailah. But when the lines between black and white begin to blur, where in the spectrum will she find her place? And with whom?
⠀
Gabriel and Jonah both want to protect her. But Lailah will have to fight her own battle to find out who she truly is.

THOUGHTS: This was 100% a cover read, but it was one hell of an interesting read. The chapters seemed a bit odd, but made sense once I read that Lailah first launched in serial form on Wattpad. So I just like to think of it as each chapter is like the next episode in a TV series. And Lailah would be a great TV series. This book was quotable, and was just an interesting read. I enjoyed it a lot. I cannot wait to read the sequel. ⠀
GOODREADS SYNOPSIS: When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, She knows it isn’t love at first sight. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up. He doesn’t want love, she doesn’t have time for love, so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her: Never ask about the past. Don’t expect a future. They think they can handle it, but realize almost immediately they can’t handle it at all. Hearts get infiltrated. Promises get broken. Rules get shattered. Love gets ugly.

THOUGHTS: This book was a great read. Kept me reading till the last page. Ugly Love made me laugh, it made me smile, it made me irritated, and I cried both tears of sadness and joy. I'm seriously excited for the film that may or may not be a great film, but fingers crossed. The title of the book says it all: Ugly Love, and it's what got me to pick up the book... Well that, and people keep posting about it. Plus I love the cover.😘
THOUGHTS: I bought this book because it was a Carly Phillips book [and not just because male with the abs on the cover —that are probably photoshopped.😂🙈], and I LOVED her Hunter & Ty Series. I actually read the second one first: Sealed with a Kiss. And it seems I have repeated that trend since Hot Property is the fourth companion novel in the Hot Zone series, and since it's a companion novel I don't think I missed much, but it did seem like characters from the previous books were popping in this book. But overall Hot Property was an enjoyable, fast read. Hot Property is about a famous athlete named John Roper, and his new publicist named Amy Stone, and basically Amy's job is to help John get his head in the game, but it's a little hard with so many distractions going on. That was a horrible synopsis, but if you love romantic comedies and a good light read this is probably a book or series you would enjoy reading.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8642496764599948035.post-66678384453061858432015-06-12T22:40:00.000-07:002017-01-01T22:41:01.761-08:00Bookish Thought: City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare.

THOUGHTS: If I am honest I think I like this new cover over the new City of Bones new cover. It just looks so pretty. And the model is gorgeous. I love it. Anyways, I finished City of Ashes a few days ago, and enjoyed it. I loved the whole intense taboo situation. I especially loved how it ended. It makes me want to pick up the next one, but being a reader I put it on hold for a bit to read other books, but I'm so anxious to see/read what happens next. I still would not call this series a favorite series, but it is most definitely one hell of an entertaining read. I cannot wait for the TV show: Shadowhunters the only thing that makes me sad. It's that it's on ABCFamily and not on the CW —I've had a few shows canceled from ABC Family, plus I feel like the CW tends to have a lot of great shows that make it big, and have lot of action and complex storylines. Anyways it was a great read, and cannot wait till I pick up the next one.😜 [Edited post. No physical books in this image.😭]

REVIEW: I loved this story. It starts off with a Amanda who is a thirty year old virgin, and as her birthday gift to herself. She orders a male prostitute, but little does she know the man who she welcomes into her house is not who she thinks he is. I love these types of romantic novels so naturally I gave it five stars, and in case it wasn't obvious; it does have mildly, descriptive sex scenes.

REVIEW: To be honest I read the first eight chapters, and thought the book was interesting, but wasn't in the mind set to read it, I guess. So, I put it down for a few weeks, and then I just picked it up, and read it. I was hooked. I enjoyed the RomCom aspects of the books, yet it is more the just a fluffy read. The protagonist has a way with words or should I say Jenny Han has a way with words that if this was not told the way she did it would not be as good. Plus I feel like you could learn a few things from just reading this books. Lara Jean's thoughts are just so human. I love it. I loved it so much I had to read the book second book right after.
REVIEW: I won't say much about this book, because I know a lot of you have not read it, but I will say that I think I enjoyed the first one a bit better, but this one has a bit more drama. It was still a enjoyable read. I basically read it in a day. 😘Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8642496764599948035.post-43637386650187238312015-05-23T22:28:00.000-07:002017-01-01T22:29:33.445-08:00Bookish Thoughts: City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

REVIEW: To be honest I think I enjoyed this book more the second time around, possibly because I pretty much knew what was going to happened next. So this time around I took more of the story in rather then the first time were I was reading to see what happened next. There were times where I knew what was happening, and wanted to get to good parts, but other then that enjoyable read. I picked up the next one pretty much right after.(:
