Goodreads: It’s been so long since Auden slept at night. Ever since her parents’ divorce—or since the fighting started. Now she has the chance to spend a carefree summer with her dad and his new family in the charming beach town where they live. A job in a clothes boutique introduces Auden to the world of girls: their talk, their friendship, their crushes. She missed out on all that, too busy being the perfect daughter to her demanding mother. Then she meets Eli, an intriguing loner and a fellow insomniac who becomes her guide to the nocturnal world of the town. Together they embark on parallel quests: for Auden, to experience the carefree teenage life she’s been denied; for Eli, to come to terms with the guilt he feels for the death of a friend. In her signature pitch-perfect style, Sarah Dessen explores the hearts of two lonely people learning to connect.

My Review: Let me start of by saying I am a big fan of Sarah Dessen’s books, she is just amazing author of sweet teen romance... whose books I will read just because their hers. Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen, I really loved this story I felt like I could relate with the situation especially since when I read this novel I was in summer and about to become an official college freshman in like two weeks so just reading a book about a girl who just wanted some change from her usual routine from being the smart girl, the girl who avoided the parties and the social life.

I felt like I could relate maybe not in being the “smart” girl exactly but I never had a social life so that’s what brought me to enjoy this cute summer read. So like I just said Along for the Ride is about a girl named Auden who is about to become a college freshman at a really good school, but before she begins her big college adventure she wants to leave and runaway from the world she’s known her whole life and go visit her dad and her dad’s new family during the summer. (Let me just say how I hated her dad when I started reading the first chapters, he was just so inconsiderate about helping out with the newborn and just hated him.)

So Auden coming to her dad’s beach house meeting her stepsister and her father’s wife and just a new environment. And of course she ends up going to parties, meeting friends, having drama and meeting the male protagonist in the novel. She ends up wearing things she wouldn’t usually wear and knows her mother (being a feminist) would not approve of and with her new summer life she just became a more smart but outgoing person.

I love how Dessen ties in the whole bike thing into the novel. At first I thought “Along for the Ride” was a symbolism on how she changes her life but bikes actually do play in into this novel. I just recommend this book to anyone who loves those cute, teen romance type books.

  1. The Crank Series is literally my drug! I was completely addicted while reading all of these novels. I just couldn't get enough. I fell inlove with the main character, and when she felt pain it was written so wonderfully that I felt like I was in pain too, or when she was heartbroken I felt like my heart was broken into tiny pieces too.
